Background & Bio

Shannon Burns, FNP, RN and E-RYT 500 yoga teacher.  Shannon is a double graduate from the University of Virginia (BSN & MSN/FNP), and has lived in Charlottesville for 20+ years.   Shannon worked in the field of medicine as a nurse, then nurse practitioner for over 25 years. As a Nurse Practitioner, Shannon uses her care, knowledge and understanding of the human body to bring calmness, compassion and strength to the body through support and empowerment. 

Shannon lives with one patient husband, two (very) teenaged daughters, two ridiculously cute English labs, a handful of barn cats, a few chickens, and at times a few other random animals she chooses to nurse back to health.  She is proud to call Charlottesville her forever home after living here for more than 28 years. 

3 deserted island items?

A yoga mat, a bottle of good tequila with a few limes, and buttery Lululemon align leggings.

What is the one non-negotiable in your morning routine?

A cup of black coffee and 10 minutes in bed drinking coffee to mentally prepare for the day.


If your friends were to describe you in 3 words, what would they choose?

Compassionate, determined, fun.

What does ‘healthy’ look like for you?

Exercise every day, no less than 7-8 hours of sleep, clean eating with an occasional splurge, and mandatory social time with girlfriends.

A huge fan of infrared saunas. No better way to naturally detox & let your body relax.
